Dec. 24, 2013

John 21:  22 Jesus answered, “If I want him to remain alive until I return, what is that to you? You must follow me.”

I have been noting this a lot lately--the need to follow your own path to Christ.  Jesus has predicted Peter's death, and Peter wants to hear of John's fate.  Jesus tells him that Peter and John will follow their own paths, and Jesus is not interested in sharing one man's path with the other.

I have always said I want the Grateful Dead song, "Ripple," played at my funeral. I know people will be shocked, but I love the song.  I especially like the part where the singer says, "if I knew the way, I would take you home."  That is how I feel about those I love; if I could show them the path to Christ, I would take them there.  But each one must follow the path in "your steps alone."

Prayer:  Lord, I want to focus on my walk with Christ. I pray that others, especially those I love, will do the same.  I know that is the only way to true peace and eternal life.  I give thanks for the guidance You have given me to help me prepare to go to my eternal home.
Amen
