John 1: 4 In him was life, and that life was the light of all mankind
It seems so appropriate to cite this verse one week before Christmas Eve. We will see a star shining in front of us that evening. We will acknowledge our Messiah, who is coming to us in human form as a helpless baby. He is the light of our existence.
I am looking forward to Christmas for so many reasons, but this one feels more sacred to me than most. The past weekend was very meaningful to me, and after the long trip Thursday night into Friday, I will be in my mother's home. She has prepared it for Christmas, even though she was weakened by the illness she has had. At 91, it is taking a long time for her to bounce back. I hold on to her, and I am so blessed to spend another Christmas with her. She is the basis of my life of faith.
Prayer: Lord, I look forward to the celebration of the arrival of Your son on Earth. I am so blessed to spend that time with my mother and with others who are so dear to me. I know that all of my days are blesses by the light You sent us in Jesus, but I am especially glad for the special holiday of his birth.
Amen
