Dec. 10, 2013

2 Timothy 2:
13 if we are faithless,
    he remains faithful,
    for he cannot disown himself.

This caught my attention, b/c Paul has just said disowning God will result in your being disowned.  However being faithless does not result in a loss of God's faithfulness to us.

God stays with us no matter what.  When we turn away, He is always there, waiting for  us to turn back.  Once we have the gift of faith, our weakness may intrude, but we are welcome back like the prodigal son once we realize what we have lost.

This is so comforting, for ourselves and for those we love.  We may know that their faith is now weak, but they can return to it and to God at any time of their choosing.  And we know that our own weakness will not result in God's turning away from us, even when we deserve just that.

Prayer:  Lord, I am so grateful for your faithfulness.  I know that I have turned away from You at times; that I have turned a blind eye to You and others; but I am also secure in the knowledge that Your faith in me has never waivered.
Amen
