Dec. 21, 2013

John 11:  44 The dead man came out, his hands and feet wrapped with strips of linen, and a cloth around his face.

I have never seen this in a movie or on tv.  I would like to.  Jesus has called Lazarus, who has been in the tomb for 4 days, and he responds.  What an image that would be!

The story also includes one of my favorite Bible passages--the shortest one--Jesus wept.  I love how Martha and Mary's family are so dear to Jesus.  I love how the women argue over serving him.  I love how Mary anointed Jesus's feet with the expensive oil, and I love Jesus's rebuke to the disciple who criticized her.

I would like to be part of a family of faith like this.

Prayer:  As Jesus raised Lazarus, as he loved Lazarus and his sisters, as we approach the celebration of the birth of Jesus, I am immersed in thoughts of faith.  I ask for your blessings of healing and peace on so many that I care for.  I pray for those who lack faith.  I pray for spiritual guidance that I may more nearly follow Your will.
Amen
