Genesis 13: 17 Go, walk through the length and breadth of the land, for I am giving it to you.”
God is talking to Abram. He and Lot have separated, with him giving Lot the first choice of the land. God is telling Abram that he will live forever, through his descendants. And they own all the land they can see.
I love the feeling of looking out and knowing I own all I can see. If I stand just right, I can say that. My husband's grandfather bought this farm about 75 years ago, and we live on it. I like to walk around our property line. When I die, I want my cremains scattered right here. I have lived here for almost 40 years. I wish I had descendants, besides my son and daughter, to leave it to. My adult children have not married nor had children, so I feel the weight of having no one in our family line. The Lord has been good to us, and we may yet get grandchildren. This verse and those around it really resonated with me.
Prayer: Lord, I thank you for the blessing of my home and the land on which it stands. I take a lot of pleasure in your handiwork here and in all the Earth. Please guide me to be a good steward of all you have given me.
Amen
P.S. If it's not too much, I really would like a grandchild. ;)
