Luke 13:  21 It is like yeast that a woman took and mixed into about sixty pounds[a] of flour until it worked all through the dough.”

Jesus is looking for comparisons to the kingdom of God.  A little bit of yeast works through all the dough.  A little bit of faith, like the mustard seed, grows into a tree in which the birds can rest.

I was teaching about yeast today.  I told about the unleavened bread the Chosen People ate as they made their way to the promised land.  I told about the effect of a little yeast on flour to make the kind of bread we like.  And yet our faith is even mightier--I feel so sad for those who live without it!

Prayer: Lord, I praise You for the gift of faith You blessed me with.  I recognize the mighty power in my faith.  I am so grateful that I do not have to face a day, not even a minute, without relying on my faith to strengthen and comfort me.  I pray for those with no faith.  I am sad for them, and I pray that they might know the peace that passes understanding.
Amen
