Exodus 14:  14 The Lord will fight for you; you need only to be still.”

Moses told the people this just before the parting of the sea, before the manna and the quail.  It is still good advice.  When Moses had stilled the people, he was able to ascertain God's will and act on it. He used his staff to part the waters, the people went through, and then he raised his staff again for the waters to cover the Egyptians.  Then they complained about a lack of water and food, and God told Moses how to handle those issues as well.

I don't have the struggles of the Egyptians, but I don't have a pillar of cloud or an angel I can see to guide me.  I must be still to know what God wants of me.  If I listen and open my heart, God's will becomes clearer.  Then I am able to benefit from God's plan for me, which is the best course I can take.

Prayer:  Lord, help me to be still and hear Your voice.  Guide me in the path You would choose for me.  I am so grateful that You are there to fight for me, and I want to hear what Your will for me would be.
Amen

  1. Not even close to what I took away from my reading of the same Scripture in 2015. Grateful that I find new inspiration in the Word.
