Luke 2:   ⁴⁰ And the child grew and became strong; he was filled with wisdom, and the grace of God was on him.

This follows the trip to the temple, the first time Jesus has acted on his own to show his promise.  There have been others who saw his promise, the shepherds, the wise men, etc.  But now the young Jesus has stood before others and shown his level of understanding.

It seems like a great way to start a new year.  This is what I want for myself in 2014--to become stronger, filled with wisdom, and with the grace of God on me.  I am not perfect, like Jesus, but I strive to become more than I am, with God's help.

Prayer:  Lord, strengthen and bless me, that I might better represent You.  Fill me with wisdom and the courage to do what it right.  Guide my thoughts and actions in the new year.
