Acts 4: 20 As for us, we cannot help speaking about what we have seen and heard.”
John and Peter have been called before the Sanhedrin. The Sadducees are especially upset, since they don't believe in life after death, and that is the basis for the healing of the blind beggar. They were questioned, detained overnight, and now they are released with a warning not to speak of the resurrection again. This is Peter's response.
Peter is the rock on which Christ built his church. And his words could not be plainer. Those of us in the modern church should consider this. We live in a time where our faith can be questioned at any opportunity. Are we afraid, or, like the disciples, is it true that "we cannot help speaking" about what we have experienced?
Prayer: Lord, let me never be afraid to speak of my faith. Help me to be a fair and responsible witness to all You do in my life. Guide my words and actions to lead others to You.
Amen
Once again, these are the words that spoke to me a year later. There is great power in this passage.
