Luke 12: 22 Then Jesus said to his disciples: “Therefore I tell you, do not worry about your life, what you will eat; or about your body, what you will wear."
Jesus goes on to tell about the flowers of the field, and he warns the disciples about being prepared for the Master to return. Those who have been given much will be expected to wait faithfully, to always be prepared. They should not worry about their needs, but they should be very concerned with their righteousness.
I need to be reminded not to worry about the everyday things. I can get so caught up in "What next?" I have a stressful career and a home and family to worry about too. I can use a reminder that those things should not be the center of my thoughts and actions. I must center my life around God, and I must trust Him to know my needs and take care of them. I should concentrate on being the best Christian I can be, and the rest will take care of itself.
Prayer: Lord, help me to be ready to meet You. Guide my thoughts and actions to Your higher standards for my life. Keep me from being caught up in the day-to-day life, and help me to see what You really want my life to be like.
Amen
