April 20, 2014 Easter Sunday

Matthew 7:
“Ask and it will be given to you; seek and you will find; knock and the door will be opened to you."

Jesus has lots of sage advice in today's verses..."don't cast your pearls before swine" and "the wise man built his house upon a rock," for examples.  Jesus elaborates on this verse:  if your children asked for bread, would you give them a stone or a snake instead of the fish they want to eat.  Why think God would do any less for us?

On this Easter morning, the most important of the Holy Days, we recognize how Jesus opened this door for us.  We do not deserve it; we did not earn it, but all we have to do is believe and pray.  I am so struck with the response to the prayers for Sherri.  This morning, she awakes, and she has hope b/c the tumors were confined, as we prayed.  She goes in for her surgery Tuesday, and she begins treatment with the possibility that she will get a good result.   I only hope she remembers how good God was to her, and that she takes this chance to grow closer to Him on the day when we commemorate His son's resurrection from death.

Prayer:  Lord, thank You for the sacrifice Your son made for all of us.  The promise of eternity waits for us b/c of all You did.  We pray for those who need Your comfort and healing, especially for Sherri.  We ask for a special Easter, meaningful to all Your people. We ask for better days to come.
Amen
