1 Corinthians 1: 26. For consider your call, brethren; not many of you were wise according to worldly standards, not many were powerful, not many were of noble birth
Paul has problems with the church at Corinth. They are divided by the one they follow--they are forming denominations! He reminds them that they all follow God. They don't worship the pastor! Then he says this verse. The faithful are not the smartest nor the richest, but they are the ones God called.
This is humbling. We aren't supposed to be the smartest or to be so favored materially. Really? I can see where that makes sense, but I grew up hoping to be both. But maybe I serve God better if I am not. I am secure in my belief that I was called to the faith.
Prayer: Lord, guide me to be a good steward of the gift of faith I was given. Help me to relate to my fellow followers, regardless of their wisdom or social standing.
Amen
