1 Thessalonians 1: 10 and to wait for his Son from heaven, whom he raised from the dead—Jesus, who rescues us from the coming wrath.
Paul begins this letter with a little history and some commendations. The church flourished while Paul was there. He was unable to come back for a visit, but he sent Timothy, who gave a good report. The people are faithfully waiting for the coming Lord.
It seems a good day to choose this verse, as Thanksgiving is over, and we begin the countdown to the celebration of Christ's birth. There is so much to be done, but we need to pause to consider our faith and the "reason for the season."
Prayer: I am so thankful for the holiday just passed and those who shared the bounty with us. I am looking forward to the celebration to come. God has been so good to us, and the gift of His son was the best Christmas gift ever! Praise be to God.
Amen
