2 Corinthians 1: 24. We’re not in charge of how you live out the faith, looking over your shoulders, suspiciously critical. We’re partners, working alongside you, joyfully expectant. I know that you stand by your own faith, not by ours.

Paul has not made a second stop in Corinth as he originally planned. There has been trouble within the church, and he feels that his presence would make a difficult situation worse. So he wrote a tearful letter instead.

I love Paul's attitude on this. So many are turned away from a life of faith by those who want to take charge of their belief system. That is not our purpose. We cannot know what goes on between someone else and God. We can support their faith journey, but we cannot direct it.

Prayer: I appeal to You, my God, for guidance in interacting with others regarding their faith. I want to be a joyous partner in their faith journey. Stop me if I begin to sound critical of their path. Help me to represent You well. Amen
