1 Corinthians 13: 8. Love never fails. But where there are prophecies, they will cease; where there are tongues, they will be stilled; where there is knowledge, it will pass away.
Paul says the words we love to quote. Love is patient, love is kind.... He also talks a lot about speaking in tongues and prophesying. He says prophets uplift the church, but speaking in tongues only helps others if there is an interpreter. Knowledge isn't elaborated on, but we certainly value it. Love will last beyond all of these however.
If we don't love, we are building our lives on transient values.
It is good to be knowledgeable. It is good to speak to and for the Lord. But without love, we are like a trick pony. Everyone oohs and ahs over our skill, but we feel empty....we ARE empty inside.
Prayer: Help me to express love more completely. I, like everyone else on Earth, have been hurt and have hardened myself. Guide my thoughts and actions towards loving kindness for all Your creation.
