Psalm 70: 4 But may all who seek you
rejoice and be glad in you;
may those who long for your saving help always say,
“The Lord is great!”
David is asking for God's help again. His enemies would like to ruin or even kill him. David admits his need and calls upon his savior. He pauses a moment in the middle to acknowledge that there are others like himself. They also cry out to God. David prays that he and they find joy and help.
I used to wonder why God was so crazy about David. That whole killing Uriah to get Bathsheba thing bothered me. And he verges on paranoia about these enemies--or does he? After much Bible study, I think I get it. Nobody ever needed God more, and no one was as willing to call upon Him either. David is God's boy first and foremost, even though he sins. That makes him like me in a way.
Prayer: I am grateful for like-minded followers of God today. I pray that they feel Your presence when they call on You. I'm also grateful for Your holy Bible, which shows me the long history of faithful people. Hear me, O Lord, and help me to know You are near.
Amen
