Luke 1: 29 Mary was greatly troubled at his words and wondered what kind of greeting this might be.
Gabriel has been a busy angel. He appeared to Zechariah in the temple. Zechariah was "alarmed and full of fear." Zechariah listened to the announcement of Elizabeth's pregnancy, but then he asked how he could believe it. He and Elizabeth were too old. When Mary hears Gabriel's words, she is troubled. How can a virgin have a baby? Mary accepts Gabriel's prediction and indicates she is willing to follow God's will.
I was struck by the reactions of the 2 people Gabriel visited. Both were in shock. Even the details of John's ...well, I never finished that thought. Two days later this comes up...whoops!
