1 Corinthians 9:  25 Everyone who competes in the games goes into strict training. They do it to get a crown that will not last, but we do it to get a crown that will last forever.

Paul is explaining what he, as a preacher of the Good News, is entitled to.  He is allowed to work and to take a wife, although he doesn't do those things.  He has lived under the Law when he is with those who do that, although he isn't required to do that.  He had lived without the Law when staying with those who don't follow it.  He will do whatever it takes to save a soul.

March Madness indeed!  We have daily witness (on 3 different channels) of those who have built their lives around competition.  Our competition (which I stumbled in yesterday) is more serious.  It is not for an annual championship, but it is for an eternal ending.  The goal may seem far away, but we have grace on our side when we stumble.  Our training begins anew when we ask for forgiveness and try again.

Prayer:  Lord, forgive me, for I have sinned.  I let my big mouth get carried away again.  My pride stepped up to make me do that which I shouldn't do.  I want to be a serious Christian, always ready to do Your will.  I promise to be more serious in my training for the ultimate prize.
Amen
