1 Corinthians 3: 11 For no one can lay any foundation other than the one already laid, which is Jesus Christ.
Paul is still concerned about the factions in Corinth. Some people say they follow him, while others say they follow Apollos. Paul is telling them that the messenger is not the point. They have to all follow Jesus; he is the one true foundation of Christian faith.
I can see that this is still going strong today. People get hung up on some aspect of their faith--let's say it is having a woman pastor or infant baptism--and they let that divide them into different groups who judge each other's faith. Let's not go there. If you find yourself drawn to one denomination, fine. I am comfortable with another. It doesn't matter as long as both are based on the one true foundation of Christ.
Prayer: Lord, I am praying that all Your people are drawn together by the one true foundation of Your church. Please help us to smooth over our differences. Help us to acknowledge our brothers and sisters of faith, in whatever form that takes, so long as their faith is based on Your only son who gave his life for all of us.
Amen
