Isaiah 2: Their land is full of idols;
they bow down to the work of their hands,
to what their fingers have made.
This is interesting to me, since I have always had trouble understanding why the people preferred idols to God. It is their own work they are worshipping! They love what they have made more than what God has made!
Well, now, we have lots of idol worship today, too, don't we? People worship their things---maybe they didn't make the thing they worship, but they got the thing with the money they earned by their work. The nature of sin is of much interest to me, and this self-centered attitude "Look what I have done!" is central to sin, as I see it.
Prayer: Lord, protect my weak self from idol worship. Let me rely fully on You, not on what I can accomplish with my busy-ness. I praise You for your power and glory.
Amen
