Luke 21:  34 “Be careful, or your hearts will be weighed down with carousing, drunkenness and the anxieties of life, and that day will close on you suddenly like a trap."

Jesus talks about the fall of Jerusalem and the second coming.  There will be trouble all over the world, and those in Jerusalem will need to get out, with no one new coming in.  We, as Christians, should stand tall and look for Christ.  But there will be many who are not taken in the rapture, because they never had time for a relationship with God in this life.

The trap analogy is tough.  There is much to take our attention away from our faith.  We want to have a good time.  We have so many responsibilities.  It's strange to think that carousing and drunkenness would weigh down our hearts, though.  Anxiety, sure.  But even the pursuit of the pleasures of life can wwigh us down.

Prayer:  Lord, help me to remember to give my time and attention to my faith.  Don't let me be trapped by the mundane affairs of daily life. Keep my focus on the true purpose of my existence--to serve You.
Amen
