Luke 23: 29.For the time will come when you will say, ‘Blessed are the childless women, the wombs that never bore and the breasts that never nursed."
Jesus spoke these words to his female followers. They were so sad, having seen all that had happened since his arrest. Jesus knew that they and their descendants faced even rougher times to come.
This made me think about the Holocaust. Surely many Jewish women felt that way. Having descendants wa hugely important to the Hebrews. And there was a formal program in place to exterminate them. Plus there was the personal anguish. The fewer attachments you had, the less you suffered.
Prayer: Lord, I pray for the persecuted. Today we find ourselves in a world where terrorists target Your people of both Jewish and Christian faith. Be with those who suffer in Your name. Guide us to help them however we can.
