1 Timothy 6:    For we brought nothing into the world, and we can take nothing out of it.

This goes well with yesterday's post, as Joash, saved by his aunt and uncle, is killed by his advisors.  He has forgotten their kindness and killed their son.  So his reign, characterized mainly by the rebuilding of the temple, ends in disgrace and death.

Of course, that is not what Paul had in mind at all.  He was telling Timothy to be content with what he had--just food and clothing are enough.

While here at Mother's, we discussed this as it relates to elderly people trying to clutch their material possessions even as they decline into death.

Prayer:  Lord, help me to remember that no things will leave this world with me.  Instead let me focus on leaving here as an honorable servant of Yours.  Help me to recall what is truly important in life, so that I face death in the best possible way.
Amen
