1 Peter 1: 12 It was revealed to them that they were not serving themselves but you, when they spoke of the things that have now been told you by those who have preached the gospel to you by the Holy Spirit sent from heaven. Even angels long to look into these things.
Peter begins his letter by explaining how the prophets looked for the signs of the coming Messiah, his suffering, and the glory which would follow. They found out that it wouldn't happen for them.
It happened for us though. We live in a post-Messianic time, when the glory of God has been revealed through the sacrifice of His son. We have access to glory through the Holy Spirit, which the people in OT times didn't. It's a great thing, but it's become something we take for granted. We have so much more than we realize on a daily basis.
Prayer: I confess my indifference to the greatness available to me through the Holy Spirit. I commit to reinvigorate my spiritual life through study and prayers. I have not been utilizing a great gift You have given me, O Lord. Forgive me, for I have sinned.
Amen
