1 Chronicles 17: 27 "You have been kind enough to bless my family. You were kind enough to promise that my family will serve you forever. Lord, you yourself blessed my family, so my family really will be blessed forever.”
David is speaking to God. He was concerned about the ark residing in a tent while David had a nice house. God speaks to Nathan, telling him that David isn't the one who will build God's house. His son will, and David's line will continue through him.
I am praying for my blessed family today. The widow of my uncle, whose memorial service we attended last weekend, is back in the hospital. Her heart is the problem. Her children are suffering with her. We are a family who serves God, so I know their faith is a comfort now.
Prayer: Lord, give strength and peace to my family as they face the loss of Al and now the illness of Marge. We are a family blessed by generations of faith. Your comfort is needed in this time of trouble.
Amen
A year later, and Marge, defying the odds is still with us. I will see her daughter next week. We are a blessed family indeed.
